After completing Sea Empire, I was looking for something a bit more aggressive when I stumbled across the lengthy named Great Little War Game or GLWG
for short. Unusually for Android games there is not free version for this one, however with a high rating and a lot of downloads, I thought I would give it a go.
I could not have been more impressed with GLWG, absolutely a hidden gem of a game and one I would recommend be downloaded with anyone who likes a nice bit of strategy.
The basic premise involves destroying the enemy! the gameplay is turn based and there are 20 different Units available to you, taken from 4 classes: Soldier, Vehicle, Sea and Air. Buildings are pre placed on the maps, with no option to build more however you can capture enemy buildings.
First thing to do is to go to Options and change the Graphics Bode from 'Best' to 'Fast' unless you have a seriously top end phone.
There are three game modes Campaign, which has 20 pre-set levels, pass and play and skirmish. Each mode involves creating units, moving them across the map and engaging with the enemy to either attack an HQ, gather a stockpile of resources or just survive till the time runs out.
The levels themselves take up to 45mins to complete, but handily there is a save feature, so you can start put in a turn or two whenever you have a spare 5 minutes.
Find buddies who can also play and the pass to play feature comes into force, although I haven't tested this so far, I can forsee a wide mix of tactics involved.
Achievements are tracked via the ever popular 'feint' system although some will be extremely difficult to achieve.
In summary, this game kicks some ass - and in my opinion, destroys the one-sided tower defence games.
Time to complete - 2 weeks
Boredom point - on completion - but perhaps has more longevity on pass to play mode
